SPARC Law & Litigation FAQ

45. What if a father knows he's not the biological father and still signs the birth certificate and a paternity affirmation?
If a father signs the birth certificate and a paternity affirmation, he is the legal father in the eyes of the law. Voluntarily signing these documents makes it very difficut to overturn or deny paternity later in court.
