Title: How does a citizen get a subpoena without an attorney?
Post by: nerd on Dec 09, 2003, 07:45:05 AM
I am wondering how a person goes about subpoenaing a witness when that person cannot afford an attorney?  I know that a citizen should be able to follow the same steps that an attorney would follow.  I also understand that it would be better to have an attorney, but there is no way to afford it.  So the only choice is to have the witnesses subpoenaed ourselves.  any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried going to your local courthouse? they usually have forms that one can fill out, and you pay a filing fee, and a fee to the local PD to have the witness served.
