Title: How do we stop support?
Post by: 4honor on Nov 01, 2008, 04:14:01 PM
SS turned 18 today. He is set to graduate in June 2009. CS order say through graduation. How do we stop the order without making a big deal?

We wrote a letter to the WSSR (Washington State Support Registry) requesting the process to stop support. They looked into things with SS. Found out he is set to graduate on time, but he has no leeway. If he flunks any class, he will have to go to summer school. The WSSR has gone so far as to call SS's school and speak to his school counselor regarding if he will graduate or not. (Apparently BM told them SS was flunking and would have to take a whole year, so they called the people who would know -- and had no financial interest in the answer).

So they have flagged SS's file, and once we present proof of SS' graduation, they will close out the file. CS is no longer taken out of DH's pay automatically. I set up a specific autopay through our bank, so CS is paid in time to get to WSSR on time. At the moment, the last autopayment will occur in time for the June 2009 payment.

We have an email from CSE. They have suspended the CS obligation while they are looking into the fact that 18 yo SS dropped out of school in April. If he had stayed in and failed to graduate, he could go back and the CS order could be extended, but because he dropped out, we're Done.
