Title: What are the state guide lines on granting a change of venue.
Post by: honest on Aug 30, 2009, 01:37:40 PM
My former spouse moved back in with his parents 3 yrs ago, June of this I was granted a change of domicile to another county 3 hours away.  Right now our custody case is in a county that niether of us live in.  I would like to move the case to my county or his county.  What guidelines do I need to have in place to have the change of venue granted and what are the proper steps?  Also my former spouse and I have a very messy custody battle and there is always some sort of activity happening in our case.

This answer comes from Calhoun county but I notice that the comment is regarding the entire state of Michigan...

Reference given is an advertisement for an attorney dated 2002.  I wouldn't consider it reliable.

I take it that you don't understand the workings of the internet very well, especially when it comes to domain names.  Is there something you don't understand about:

http: // courts (THE COURTS OF) co (COUNTY OF) calhoun (CALHOUN) mi (STATE OF MICHIGAN) us (UNITED STATES) ??

This link is a GOVERNMENT WEBSITE OWNED BY THE STATE OF MICHIGAN.  Go to the base site and look for yourself.    (http://www.deltabravo.net/forum/richedit/smileys/YahooIM/23.gif)

If you don't know what you're talking about then kindly don't comment.  You're not helping anyone when you dissuade them from true and legitimate help.

At least when I'm not sure of an answer I say things like 'I have the impression', 'as I understand it', etc, and I encourage the OP to make sure of what the actual facts are.

Sorry Snowrose ... I guess I'm the first to inform you that Al Gore didn't develope the internet and you shouldn't believe everything you read on the internet.

The OP was referring to or was expecting a response from a legal perspective not what ole Johnny Stepnfetchit in Calhoun county "thinks" while perfecting a "comment" for a BS project while eating a bowl of Corn Flakes in Battle Creek Michigan over 7 years ago.

Your response is indicative of some shallow book learning with zero life and particularly gov't experience.

Please grow up.

You've just made a complete fool of yourself and proven that you know next to nothing about the internet.  The mi.us websites are controlled by the state of Michigan - and if you're not willing to admit your error then I see no reason for anyone to believe anything you post.

No wonder you have a -309 rating.  There's no doubt you deserve it.  I just feel badly for the poor first timers who come onto the website and think that those 5 stars on your profile mean something more than just the number of posts you've made.  It's the minus 309 that shows what you really are - incompetent.

Troll.

Davy, this was completely uncalled for. Your responses vary between very helpful and very hateful, and I don't see what Snowrose said that rated this kind of response from you. Because of this, I'm banning you from posting for the next 3 days.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: there's no reason we can't all be civil here. A little spirited discussion is fine, outright insults are not.

For what it's worth, this is by no means the first time I've seen this sort of thing from you, nor is it the first time we've had this discussion. In fact, I've been fielding a string of complaints about your insults and postings for months now, and from a variety of different users. I've had about enough. If you can't be civil, find another board.

That's why we have the "Karma" display turned on....it's hard to argue with. If lots of people think a poster is okay, it shows. And if lots of people don't, that also shows.
