Title: change in jobs
Post by: cake3344 on Mar 06, 2015, 12:06:36 PM
Dh pays child support through Child support service but his wages are not directly garnished. He himself makes the payment every month. Now Dh is considering changing jobs and working for a new company where his salary could potentially be much higher. My question is: does he have to report this change to BM? The child support order doesn't mention anything in regards to this. We are in WA. Thank you.

No but at any point BM can request a review. Some states just have Cola increases every do often. She would have to ask and prove why she needed an increase. If you are in child support court again it may be recalculated but for now leave it alone.

check out your state's code -- to find the definition of "change in circumstances" (like 10% change from old to new).

And I'd let mom ask vs. dad volunteering.

You should consult your family lawyer regarding this issue.
