my atty advised me that i have to collect all past credit card stmts dating back for the last 8 yrs. Does anyone have any idea on WHY? I shread those monthly and don't have them. What happens if i can't provide them?

Ask your attorney. When you get an odd request or advice from an attorney, always ask why.

I can't imagine why it would be relevant - unless there's a question of who has been supporting your child(ren).
