Title: Long distance help with grades
Post by: Ref on Apr 17, 2006, 02:00:57 PM
SD lives 1500 miles away. She has always been a good student until this grading period in her freshman year.

Does anyone have advice on how to help her while she is so far away?

Thanks

this has been up here for a while and I really don't have suggestions either.

As you know, DH and I are both long distance parents.

The only thing I know to do is to let my son know that I DO KNOW what's going on and that in my home good grades are required, not just encouraged and recommended, but required.  From a distance, I can't REQUIRE it, but only encourage.

I let my son know that I've spoken to his teachers and counselors at school and that even though I'm far away, I'm keeping my eye on the situation.

During conversations on the phone, I ask him how certain classes are coming along and if he's managed to bring up his "D" in English -- which he did this past grading period back to an A.

I guess my only suggestion is to let her KNOW that Dad KNOWs what's going on.
