Is it possible to payoff the cp in the state of Ohio to have cs ended?  How is it done?  Can you make an offer or does it have to be what will be owed?  DH is in an odd situation and it is likely that cp would take a payoff but we can't afford the full amount.  We are 99% sure that she would take it and not ask for anything more.  We would like to be in a situation where we don't have to deal with her any longer.

How does the court determine the amount of child support to be paid?
Child support is calculated based on the incomes of the two parties. You can refer to the table below to find the amount to be allocated for your child(ren) each year. Briefly, the first step is to figure out the percentage of income earned per year by the parent who will be paying support; then apply that percentage to the amount of support. For example, if the two parents have equal incomes of $15,000 per year, for a joint annual income of $30,000 and they have one child, the annual support is $5,377.00. The parent paying child support would pay fifty percent of the annual support, since s/he earned fifty percent of the income. Fifty percent of $5,377.00 is $2,688.50. A regular amount of child support is then deducted each payday from the payor's paycheck. In this example, if the payor is paid once each month, one-twelfth of $2,688.50 would be withheld from his or her paycheck, i.e. $224.05. These guidelines are an important starting point, but courts frequently deviate from them, depending on the circumstances of the parties.

Child Support Issues / Ohio modification question
Nov 08, 2005, 07:36:40 PM
DH's ex has never taken him back for more money, does the CS office ever ask for a modification or does that have to come from either parent?  Also, what happens when one child has reached the age of majority, will someone have to make a mention of that or does the CS take care of that?

We found out a while ago that she isn't his.  DH doesn't know who she belongs to and the ex doesn't know that the test was done.  We lied to the daughter saying the test was for something else (home kit).  She is 13 now.  When should she learn the truth?  Obviously she doesn't have the same medical history that my dh has and we don't know who's medical history she has.  Does it matter that she find out?  What about future children for her?  It would have been better if she would have known from the beginning then this wouldn't be an issue but the mother never told the truth.  DH suspected but he didn't know for sure either.
