"Unfortunately for many in Springfield, they are being misled as to the true reality of the issue, and the intent of some organizations to marginalize men and fathers as much as possible for sordid political motivations, regardless of their status as law-abiding citizens or loving parents who care and nurture their children."

"Other People's Kids"
The Future of Parental Involvement and Parental Rights in Illinois
Town Hall Forum

Parental notification. School choice. Sex education. Mandatory HIV and mental health screening. DCFS reform. Contested divorce and child custody. How much government do we need in the family? What is the future of parental rights in Illinois? How can we ensure maximum parental involvement and minimal state intrusion across all areas of society where children are impacted?

Please join the Illinois Alliance for Parents and Children as we explore an important public dialog on critical issues that impact parental rights and parental involvement in Illinois.

Our focus is to shed new light on these issues in an effort to help educate parents and policymakers on the need to modify our public policy in order to strengthen and support parental rights and parental involvement.

Joining us for this event will be a unique group of subject matter experts who are well-versed on these issues. They include:

Dr. Mark Rogers. Dr. Rogers is an adjunct instructor at the Chicago School for Professional Psychology. In addition to his academic role, he is also a trained Mediator and child custody expert. He is also known for his participation in the Elian Gonzales case.

Diane Redleaf. Ms. Redleaf is perhaps one of the more legitimate parental rights attorneys in the country, having litigated the landmark DCFS case of Dupuy vs. Samuels for over 10 years here in Chicago, representing approximately 150,000 parents in this important class action lawsuit.

Dr. Kirk Harris. Dr. Harris is an education consultant residing in the Chicago area and participates on the Governor's Council on Responsible Fatherhood. He also serves as an advisor to the Illinois Alliance for Parents and Children, and is former Sr. Vice President and General Counsel of Family Support America.

The Honorable Patricia Martin Bishop. Judge Bishop is the Presiding Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County Child Protection Division, located in Chicago, working primarily on cases concerning termination of parental rights.

Michael McCormick. Mr. McCormick is known for his highly visible role as Executive Director for the American Coalition for Fathers and Children, located in Washington, D.C. Mr. McCormick has been featured on several nationally recognized news programs that have dealt with father absence and shared parenting.

Zena Crenshaw. Ms Crenshaw is Founder and Executive Director of the National Judicial Conduct and Disability Law Project, located in Crowne Point Indiana. Ms. Crenshaw brings over 20 years of experience with her as a litigator and whistleblower/advocate for parents and disabled persons.
