General Issues / RE: Update on GAL
Feb 18, 2004, 03:06:34 AM
Hello, I beleive the typical price range for a Custody eval is between 2500-10000 dollars. Also, the test you may take is the MMPI, which is about 570 questions. The key is to be truthful with the evaluator. There is more info on the SPARC site in regards to the MMPI. Keep us updated with your testing, etc. As I have also had an evaluation ordered. Thanks, JT

Don't swaet it, you are probably better off if it takes longer. The current Status Quo custody will do a world of good. Also, with him continuing to see a pschologist and telling them he wants to stay certainly cannot hurt. Tell him to just be a kid and enjoy himself, things will turn out they way they should be. Also, in PA, when does the child have a right to say where they want to live. The judge is probably just covering his butt to make sure his ruling cannot be appealed. Take Care, JT

Custody Issues / Psych Eval and Visitation
Sep 24, 2004, 11:34:29 AM
Hello, I have a question for everybody. I am in the middle of a looonnnggg custody battle for last 2 and 1/2 years. I have temp custody of our 8 year old son. We did Custody eval and it came back stating mother needs extensive pyschotherapy. It states if she does not it may eventually cause harm to son. She has EOW and 1 night a week visitation. It does state that if Psychotherapist eventually agrees with PArent Coordinator she could get additional visitation up to 50/50. My question is what happens if she refuses to attend pschotherapy? Also, does this take effect from right now, or not until after final trial? My concern is that the Psych eval states she can have negative effect on child if she does not attend psychotherapy. Our son attends therapy now and his therapist is really concerned with his mom and says she is practicing PAS continuosly. Thanks, RFLO

Custody Issues / RE: A Devistating Loss

That sucks, I hope you're okay. I'' say a prayer for you today. Do you have a lawyer? Can you appeal it? How are you and your X getting along? If you asked her to agree to more visitation, would she agree? Can you move to where the children are?  This is what always scares me, is that the systems says best interests of the child, but falls far short of that all the time. Good Luck, JT

You can appeal or ask for a re-hearing on the Domestic Violence Injunction. There is always going to be arguments during a divorce. I did this and they dropped the injunction, and then I went back and asked for custody. You may want to try to get a lawyer. Good Luck, JT
