Ya but I know A LOT of cps who do not work and their sole income or only income is CS, now if the mom works and can afford a new go do it, I did and I deserved it.

I think rent shoudl be considered but ONLY the difference from a 1-2 bedroom, asl for utilites nah it shouldn't, food to a point, but NOT FOR JUNK and fast food.

It works as a debit card too, you can take cash out.

I know it would put a lot of ncps at ease to use this tool.

OR if the CP actually had to SHOW receipts, utilites bills etc.

Again I am a CP and I think we should show our ex's what we are spending the cs on, when we were together we knew what our money was being spent on, why not now that we are not.

And yes, I buy at thrift stores, garage sales too, you have to when you don't get cs and when you have a dh that pays cs.

Isn't that the truth. I am also a CP who does not get cs.

BUT if I did, I could show my ex receipts for everything I spent cs on, not to hard to do.

In some states you can request a breakdown on how cs is spent BUT, it ain't worth the paper it is written on cuz all the CP has to do is:

xx for rent
xx for food
xx for clothes
and does NOT have to show receipts, pretty easy to write anything down on paper.

Personally I think ALL custodial parents should have to use the new debit credit card thing and then give the CP a copy of the monthly statement that shows WHAT stores the money was spent at, it is a monthly statement just like a credit card, BUT the state forcing the CP's to use this card and give copies of the statement to the NCP will never happen.

Ok here we go, I am in the same boat my ex is over $20k in arrears to me (total for all his kids $36K)

My ex was in jail for contempt (non payment of cs) for a week, had to come up with 1,400 to get out (monies paid towards arrears)

I had to call my crappy caseworker for over a month straight, I asked them to proceed with contempt, they will give you the bs--We can put liens on property, licenses, bank accounts etc (my ex had NONE) so after calling them 3x a week (plus the caseworkers supervisor) they finally did something.

Well that worked for a year, he actually paid his support, after that rarely anything, my caseworker filed contempt again (he has a hearing on 11/17, which he wont go to as he is leaving state AGAIN) so a warrant will be issued in his home state.

They won't collect anything from him as he is so he says, will be working in New Orleans for 8 months (ya probably trying to con people to giving him $$.

NOW on a good note IF your ex is working and you know where, tell the caseworker the employers name, phone # etc ,they will serve an order to withhold from his check, if the employer fails to, they can be on the hook for the ENTIRE amount, this happened once to me and I told his employer if the check was NOT received by xx date that I would contact my attorney and he (the employer could be liable fot he entire arrears) needless to say his employer got that $100 payment to the cs office.

You have to push some of these caseworkers (I am lucky I have a fair and really good casework, he is also a non custodial dad whom pays cs)

Child Support Issues / RE: BM not working?

You can request that you imput her income based on her education level and what a person of that age/gender would make on the state average.

DH has had to do this with bm before as she chooses to not work.

Child Support Issues / Finally....

Many of you know that my ex is NOT at all like the great fathers here.

Finally the state is filing contempt, he is to be served next week, He has failed to pay his cs since April (this time) he has had little to no contact with my son (only responds when son decides he wants to email his dad) Now hopefully they can serve him, according to my caseworker they have two addresses for him (gee imagine that, he moves around and never stays put) So if they cannot serve him this month, I guess they will have to on Thanksgiving (they had to on Xmas 4yrs ago for the same thing, cuz they do it at his sisters when they know he is there for the holiday) I know it is crappy but he does need to help a little, hell I would be jumping up and down if I got at least $50 a month. (my order is $160)

Also my caseworker is filing for an increase in CS, due to the fact my son is now 13 and my pay has decreased when I moved out of state.

Just sucks, I offer to pay ALL the transportation costs (but dad can't be bothered with his son for the whole summer, only xmas so he can play good daddy in front of his family) But son loves to see his cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents (he said last year he could care less if dad was there, he wanted to see everyone else, plus dad just sits and drinks and does not pay attention to him)

So looks like comtempt (jail time $20K+ in arrears, this is NOT including the arrears to his other 2kids- due him living off woman) and increase in cs. I know I will never get it, but hell it would help out.

It is sooo frustrating cuz DH pays his CS every month, we pay for transportation of his kids when they come visit.

Ok needed to vent.

he can write a list of places he has applied and not gotten the job.

It was pretty easy with my dh as the field of his worked dropped due to 9/11 (areospace industry)

After 9/11 my dh was laid off, not many job in his line of work, he was approved for retrainig and got unemployment, then got his cs reduced by about $150 a month (based on his unemployment income)

Kandi,

I know how you feel. My ex has 3 kids (only one is mine) he pays NO cs for any of them, He has gone to jail once for non payment of cs ($23k in arrears to our son, 10k to his daughters and anothe r$5k to his other child)

The state is currenlty prosecuting him again for failure to pay.  It is so frustrating as he lives off his family or woman, and my sons gets upset when I can't get him certain things, luckily my son is older and understands.

Men like these men give the real dads like my dh who pays his support a bad name.

Do you know what state you ex is living in, many time in dealing with the cs office, I found that I got more done If I DID all the legwork, and found him, then I would pressure the cs office for contempt.

My ex is ordered to pay monthly support of $160 to our child, hell he could get a paper route and make that money, but he enjoys drinking his beer and living off his woman.

As hard as it is, you will get thru it.
