Father's Issues / I'm sorry but....
Jan 23, 2004, 07:59:51 AM
...honestly I had a hard time reading past this statement that you made in your post:

-------I have full legal custody his dad partial custody with visitation as per my whim.--------

As the center and matriarch of your family and it's extensions, your attitude sets the tone in keeping your family on the straight and narrow.

Perhaps your "WHIM" attitude and lack of respect, structure, routine and consistency is causing the dysfunction in your family.

You asked for my two cents:

1)  Your current husband should not be touching the children, slapping them or a quick tug of the hair....regardless of the circumstances.

2)  The lack of respect in your household begins with you and your attitude towards your children's father and his girlfriend.  That is why your children are so angry.

3)  Your children should see their father regularly....not on your whim.

You need to take a long hard look at yourself and figure out what you need to do to get your act together.  When you do, it will amaze you at how everything else in your life will begin to fall into place.  You seem to be on the right track or you wouldn't be asking the noncustodial parents on this board for their input.

Good luck.

This is insanity, no doubt about it.

I know this is not the point....but I had a side thought.....

Sean Combs makes like $50 million a year between singing, producing and his clothing line.  How does he get off so cheap at $5000/month?

That's like .1% of his earnings. But it's not fair to the rest of the working stiffs like us who pay upwards of 25% in child support.

I did give Katie my home address and told her it was for this correspondance only and I will not tolerate any junk email from Claire's unless they remove the offensive merchandise.

I agree, this letter will be BS but I want a hard copy of it for a couple of reasons.

The Claire's Customer Service is about 25 miles from my house.  I have no problem calling up Katie and asking for a face-to-face.  Any SPARC members within driving distance to Hoffman Estates will be welcome to join me.  Or I'll go alone, I don't care.

I also emailed Richard Roeper from the Chicago Sun Times with the info.  Not only is he nationally syndicated, he's also on TV with Ebert.  We'll see if he bites.

I'm sure everyone's getting this reply from Claire's.  See the bottom of this message.

What's up with it?

My feeling is that they're testing the validity of the emails.  It's easy to produce mass emails from bogus email addresses.  Claire's probably can't believe the response that this merchandise generated.

Considering that Macy's and Universal pulled immediately and we've not heard a thing regarding Claire's pulling this merchandise makes me think that they're not going to pull it.

Also something very curious, this is the first email that had the confidentiality disclosure.  Also curious is the 847 area code, which is a Chicago suburb.....within driving distance for me.  So Claire's seems to have some sort of headquarters in Chicago, at least for their accessory line, so if anyone SPARC members in the Chicago area want to have a meeting, I'd be willing to have a sit down with these people.

Father's Issues / Great minds think alike!!!

I did the same yesterday.  I found out our school district doesn't allow T-shirts with print in the school.

Nonetheless, I made them aware that this "slogan" is also on lunchboxes, hats and key chains.  They said they'd make the administration aware.

Father's Issues / Get a new attorney.....read on

I wish we did.  It seemed too emotionally taxing and expensive to have to start from square one with a new one...so we didn't.

And you know what?  You end up paying twice as much to hire the one after the divorce to fix the mistakes that your first one made.

And good luck trying to get a judge to overturn to what you agreed upon in your divorce...no matter how good your evidence or your documentation.

Lesson learned, do it right the first time.  It's like the old carpenter saying, "Measure twice, cut once."
