How to ban a user:
 • View one of the user's posts.
 • Click on the user's name
 • In the left-side menu at the bottom under Actions, click "Ban this user".
 • Select Expiration, (x number of days, permanently expire the account). Normally just ban them for 2 days on the first ban, 7 days on the second ban, 30 days on the third ban. After that, post a message in here or ask me what to do with them.
 • Fill in a brief bit of text for the "Reason" and any Notes you may want to add. The Reason will be displayed to the user. Sometimes it's fun to put a cryptic error message in here, like:

INODB 550 Error: Table Space Cannot Be Consummated! - Row Dumped @ line 3612
!

Otherwise, just put something like "Don't Post Porn - 3 Day Ban"

 • Select Restriction Type: Using "Partial ban" and "Cannot post" is often very effective.
 • Most of the rest of the "trigger" stuff can just be left as-is.
 • Click the "Add" button to add the ban.
 • Finally, leave a brief note on this board mentioning what you did so everyone else can keep up to date.

How to handle "porn posters"...rather than delete each post one at a time, do this:

 • View the post.
 • Click on the user's name
 • In the left-side menu at the bottom, click "Delete this account".
 • Set the option for "Remove posts made by this member" to "Topics and Posts".
 • Click the checkbox that says "Delete this member's account"
 • Click the "Delete" button, answer "OK" to the pop-up prompt.

This deletes their account and all of their posts/topics that they posted.
ONLY do this kind of mass-delete for porn-type spammers, for other ("real") users just delete the posts individually (we don't necessarily want to remove their account or all of their posts!).

Will Barack Obama being President make any substantive difference to fathers and families? Will parents in general be better or worse off? Why? (Or why not?)

Personal Message Alert
This is another profile option change that's very useful:
 • Click"Profile", and then Personal Message Options"
 • Click the checkboxthat says "Show a popup when you receive new messages?"
When you do this you'll get a tiny alert box when someone leaves you a new PM. Very handy.
