Well Hello to you!!!!
(this is formerly "oneandonly" from chat...)

Sorry for your loss too and so glad to see you here again! You won't believe this but dh's twins just turned 18 and graduated this year!! woohooo!!!
I, too, just lost a loved one to cancer--my daddy---still in shock.

Hugs and don't be a stranger! I still read but don't post much myself...

she should know but NOT before the bio dad himself knows. The bf has a right to know he has as child, and unfortunately, mom might have to do some heavy answering to questions when the child finds out.
I think this dad who had raised her needs to let bm know all of this and go from there.....I'd be calling a counselor to help too.

Father's Issues / I have a question...

What is all this about retirement funds? WHy does she think she is entitled to this? How would this benefit your son in any way?
I gave MB the name of our atty here in NV and I highly recommend her, if it deems necessary...
I dont advocate that this "stuff" comes to a public board. MB knows our situation and is aware of my husbands ex also being on this board (although she was banned many times...)...
here's the thing--this will NOT be solved by bringing this here. I know first hand, believe me. And sadly, our PAS bm brought the children here to read, too. Or copied and altered posts, I am sure.
So, we take the high road and since the kids are turning 18 soon, if they should want to know, the truth will come out (we have originals of all posts, emails, etc.....).
let it go and take the high road~

"...no objections to LETTING a deadbeat dad have his day in court.."

There is no LETTING of one person over another to "have his day in court"....odd that this is the perception by the email-er.

I suspect this person is about to go to court and well, may be loosing what control she has over the situation. Or may have tried and lost.

Plenty of deadbeat mothers out there too, by the way.

Shame shame shame.

and wouldn't it be wonderful to include some "parents" in on this testing?

I could probably retell a thousand "good" ones...

I do understand the concerns and know when I became a teacher, the process to teach in the classroom included an FBI background check....
Perhaps this is where the problem lies? Because, truthfully, I have NO idea what an FBI check is? or what they do?

Yes, I've seen the postings here about teaching/teacher's misconduct---and yes, it is horrible..
I've been in the field for over 15 years now and personally speaking, I feel the media coverage, although not so much now, is just a trend of the media to bandwagon on this issue since it was "popular" for a bit...

I have taught in 3 states and have never encountered anyone in this field that resembles these news makers. Everyone I know of that teaches, teaches and yes, raises these students from the heart. I do not think teacher's are the enemy in most situations.

I have also been a member of this board for well over 5 years now (had to change my posting name due to being stalked on here) and I know full well what the issues of this forum and board are about.

The original story, while tragic, is not the norm for teachers and I will base that statement on my own experiences. I do see the connection but unfortunately, this tragedy cannot be undone.

It's a matter of perception, I guess....

should probably not be the heading of this post--IMO---
It's a sad, tragic story but one that really has nothing to do with her being a teacher.

And I fail to see the connection of this tragedy with father's rights? the heading on this board? Children involved here? The story does not mention children....

>Absolutely. One word in a nutshell.

You're saying you'd advocate/support a similar contest regarding CP's denying visitation via court orders??

See, that's the difference here between yourself and others here (myself being a long time member for over 5 years now-had to change my posting name due to my husbands ex stalking me)---

I don't, nor will ever support something that could NOT be in the best interest of a child/ren! Promoting or even thinking that public humiliation of a child's parent in any way, shape or form is in their best interest is just beyond normal thinking.....
