Here are a couple of links that I would strongly encourage  book marking for future use.

http://topics.law.cornell.edu/wex/table_divorce (http://topics.law.cornell.edu/wex/table_divorce)

http://topics.law.cornell.edu/wex/category/family_law (http://topics.law.cornell.edu/wex/category/family_law)

Cornell also has resources on other legal topics as well....

Hopefully this will assist some with their legal endeavors and efforts

April, I so feel your pain!  My husband and I have been together 12 years, so I can't really tell you it gets any better, although in some ways it has.

I do not do a lot with my step daughter, however, encourage her father to get together with her as often as he wants.  He took her out yesterday for lunch, I stayed home.

If she comes to our house and I feel like the mood is all wrong I either go in the office, or leave the house, she doesn't really come around though so not really a problem.

I followed the advice givem me, I ordered "Step-Monster," and bought "Divorce Poison" as well as a couple other books today.

It also helps me to vent here rather than say something to friends and family.

At their age I am not certain there is muct you can do except demand respect, as you are treating them each with respect, (I am certain...)  My Husband & I went to counseling as the only time we ever faught was over kids....Still seems like the only thing we fight about.

Keep venting and remember that you married him, not his kids, they won't be living with you forever, and with age they too will mellow.

We used them, in part to to reaffirm that we really weren't losingour own minds... however, we were advised that they did infact go to show that they could not get along, (mediator & law guardian).

We also would play them when we needed to respond to yet another string of court filings, which helped set our response tone and demeanor, ours were never used in court...

(Major issue here was she was a judge's secertary and new husband was the Republican Committe chair, in a Republican County, our case has been heard in 5 counties as a result.) So no one had the balls enough to call it what it was.....

I still believe that if you use tapes make certain that you  are not in violation of any local state laws....

I join with Davy, and encourage you to continue to vent, and be hopeful for a brighter future.

It is very difficult to watch those you love suffer, and feel completely powerless to assist.

My prayer will be with you and your family as well!

I am on my way to Border's!

I had to errands to run this morning in the city that Step daughter lieves with her mom, so I called a left her a  message on her cell phone inviting her to go shopping for her father on my dime & time.  I then went by her house and rang the door bell, no answer.

about ten minutes later she calls me back, I ask her if she would like to go shopping with me.   Her response  "No, I am just going to get him something at school."   School is in late August.....

I want to scream, yet don't want husband to know anything about it!
