How to handle "porn posters"...rather than delete each post one at a time, do this:

 • View the post.
 • Click on the user's name
 • In the left-side menu at the bottom, click "Delete this account".
 • Set the option for "Remove posts made by this member" to "Topics and Posts".
 • Click the checkbox that says "Delete this member's account"
 • Click the "Delete" button, answer "OK" to the pop-up prompt.

This deletes their account and all of their posts/topics that they posted.
ONLY do this kind of mass-delete for porn-type spammers, for other ("real") users just delete the posts individually (we don't necessarily want to remove their account or all of their posts!).

How to ban a user:
 • View one of the user's posts.
 • Click on the user's name
 • In the left-side menu at the bottom under Actions, click "Ban this user".
 • Select Expiration, (x number of days, permanently expire the account). Normally just ban them for 2 days on the first ban, 7 days on the second ban, 30 days on the third ban. After that, post a message in here or ask me what to do with them.
 • Fill in a brief bit of text for the "Reason" and any Notes you may want to add. The Reason will be displayed to the user. Sometimes it's fun to put a cryptic error message in here, like:

INODB 550 Error: Table Space Cannot Be Consummated! - Row Dumped @ line 3612
!

Otherwise, just put something like "Don't Post Porn - 3 Day Ban"

 • Select Restriction Type: Using "Partial ban" and "Cannot post" is often very effective.
 • Most of the rest of the "trigger" stuff can just be left as-is.
 • Click the "Add" button to add the ban.
 • Finally, leave a brief note on this board mentioning what you did so everyone else can keep up to date.

Spotting Bozos and Spammers:

Look at the upper-right corner of the board where it lists the Latest Member.

If you see a name that looks like random junk, i.e. "bcdgetzsd" or nvhdyrte29", chances are it's a spammer. These names are generated randomly by their spam software.

Click on the name and then scroll down. Click on the link that says "Show the last posts of this person".

If they're spammer, you'll see their junk posts. Go delete their account on the spot. If you don't see any posts then the person hasn't made any yet.

I catch a good number of spammers this way and I delete their entire account, often before they have a chance to make a single post. I'm sure this is very, very mysterious and frustrating

Frustrating a user into foolishness or insanity:

Okay, normally we don't do this, but for very persistent whackos we can make an exception. PLEASE ask me first before doing this! This is only for use in extreme cases of idiocy by a member.

 • Basically, just edit their post very subtly to make them look like a total idiot. Misspekllings (oops!), use like, umm, way bad poor grammar, and twist their words to alter their meaning.
 • For example, make them confess to being an ass, let them explain that sometimes they "post while drunk" and they "don't always remember" what they've said, and so on. Subtle is better than blatant.
 • Removing the word "not" from a sentence often has a dramatic effect (lol) just as putting an unexpected "not" in can change things radically too.
 • Add a line saying they know that "everyone" hates them, but they "don't care".
 • Have them attack someone who is supporting them (lol) and explain that "they know" that the other person is "just trying to suck up to them".
.
You get the idea. Sow confusion, make them wonder if they really DID post that. Drive them bonkers and make their life miserable.
