My ex and I have shared parenting, but my ex is the residential parent for school purposes. This arrangement has been in effect for 3 years. We live and hour apart but I get my son on a very regular basis. My son entered the 7th grade this year and had to get vaccinations.

This was the first time his father has ever taken him to the doctor. The pediatrician was concerned about my son's height and weight so she ordered blood work and a test of his growth plate. The tests showed my son has an elevated THS level indicating hypothyroidism. I wasn't informed of the follow up appointment to discuss the test results. My ex text me after the follow up and demanded I get secondary insurance because the doctor recommended a referral to an endocrinologist.

He said he would not schedule an appointment with the specialist until he has documentation that I have secondary insurance. In our court order he is responsible for carrying the insurance. In addition my 12 year old is 60lbs and 56 inches tall. He has the bone structure of a 9 year old. And my ex claims it's not life threatening so he can wait to see the doctor. When in fact hypothyroidism can be life threatening.

I scheduled an appointment with the specialist myself, but I have no faith in his father taking the illness serious. I don't have funds for a lawyer right now. However, I was thinking about filing for emergency temporary custody.
