My son has custody of his 7 year old son, and he is engaged to a terrific young lady (she just turned 22) who has assumed the stepmom role for about the past year that they have been living together.

I would like to find a verse or poem praising stepmoms, to either read at the wedding, or frame with a photo (or both). I have one called "The Other Mother" but I was wondering if there are other nice ones out there.

Thanks in advance.

KathyNY

I belong to a Stepmom website...I'm online w/ them right now...I'll go ask and let you know if I get any responses.

One of those would have been my next resource.
Thank you!

This is something I found that I thought you might be able to read with your grandson. Thought it was appropriate. I will keep looking though.

Welcome To The Family Stepmother

I'm really glad now that we're part of the same family
You probably know I wasn't sure at first.
I guess I was just afraid...

Afraid that there wasn't enough room
for both of us in the same family...
Afraid that I would be forgotten or
loved a little less than before you came along.

But somehow we've managed to weather all that
and grow closer too.
Now I realize how much you've added to the family...
How much you've added to my life.
I just want to thank you for being such a loving,
kind and patient stepmother...

Such a very thoughtful, very special person.

A Step-Mother Just Like You

I just want to let you know
You mean the world to me
Only a heart as dear as yours
Would give so unselfishly

The many things you've done
All the times that you are there
Help me know deep inside
How much you really care

Even though I might not say
I appreciate all you do
Richly blessed is how I feel
Having a Step-Mother just like you

Awww...the second one made me tear up!
The first reminded me of how a kid would feel when a sibling came along. (Hopefully that will happen too!)

Both are great, thanks!

KathyNY

I thank you for your thoughtfulness,
and the caring way you've shown.
And for the way you treat me
as though I were your own...
The happiness you bring to me
is more than you could know,
and the happiness I wish for you
words simply can not show.

In life there are milestones, each rare and so sweet, sharing with loved ones, makes them complete.

So having you near, on my wedding day,
you'll add to the meaning, in your special way.

I have looked forward, and also looked back,
so many times, you have kept me on track.

Again and again, you've come into view,
so today and forever, I'm grateful for you.

I am so glad you are in my life.
