We have been asking ex for dental and vision information.  We just want the doctors names and phone numbers.  We already have the medical center information to get an updated copy of her medical record.
Step-daughter is coming for a visit soon and we want to make sure everything is up to date on this end.  I am going to be sending out a certified letter to her.  What else can we do?  December is coming up fast. Thanks

What does the court order say regarding exchange of information-medical records?

Who's covering the kids' medical and dental insurance?  If it's the father, then contact the medical/dental insurer to get copies of any claim filed.  Usually, claims filed will have the doctor's name and address.  Sometimes, it even has the phone number but you can look that up once you have the doctor's name and address.

There is nothing in the court order in regards to exchanging information.  The state of IL, it is in their statutes that medical information is available to both parents unless a court order says otherwise.

We have the SD covered for medical and dental, but mom does too and doesn't use ours.  The dental is court ordered and the medical used to be, she waived it.  We know who to contact for medical information, just not dental and vision.

SD said at 12 she was getting contacts.  We don't know too much about contacts at that age and really don't think its the best idea, we were always under the understanding that at that age the children are still growing.  We want to talk to the doctor and ask questions and get the background information we will need for SD doctor's here.

I am going to send a certified letter and let her know that we just want the doctor name and numbers.  That if she refuses to give us the information, then we will take her to the doctors here and she will be liable for all co-pays and that we will no longer chip in for the extra stuff that she wants to split.

That sounds like a great plan especially if she's requiring you to "chip in" yet she won't provide the doctor's name and address.  My husband's former wife at least does that -- maybe because she knows we won't share in the bill unless we have that information.

Good luck and hope it works out for you all.
