Can we do this?

Divorce and current location of orders is CA

We live in Portland, OR
BM lives near Seattle, WA.  (about 9 months now)

We would like to have the case moved to WA.
What we really would like is to have the case moved to Vancouver, WA, as it is only 20 minutes away.

It is my understanding that since the kids have lived in WA for over 6 months, WA has jurisdiction.  Is it possible then to have the case moved to Vancouver, even though that is a different county than where they live now?

BM never seems to stay anywhere longer than 18 months (8 differnet locations in the last 6 years, covering 3 states and several different counties in CA, and now WA), so while Seattle is a major improvement over S. CA, having it in Vancouver would be a lot closer for us (we have lived in the same town for the past 5 years, own our house and have no intention of moving anytime soon)

1.  Can we request to have the case moved to Vanvoucer, WA.
2.  If BM doesn't want it moved to Vancouver, but her county, do we have an arguement to have it in Vancouver.

Thanks,

socrateaser

Well, before you can move the case anywhere, you need to have a cause of action, i.e., some new issue that needs adjudication. But, assuming that you have such a claim, then, if you file in WA, the only place that you can file is where the other party is found, and that, apparently is King County, right?

Vancouver is Clark County, and no, you have no good argument, unless the other parent agrees to Clark County as venue for the case.
