Can you direct me to a site (if you dont know off hand) where I can find out if VA is state that gives Grand Parents Rights?

My Dh's mother is very controlling but very damaging to the child, she keeps threatening to go after grand parents rights to see the child.  THANKS!

Any third party may petition the court for visitation, but must overcome the presumption that the custodial parent acts in the child(ren)'s best interests in denying visitation by the third party.

A grandparent who can prove that there is an established and positive relationship between the children and the grandparent, will not be denied visitation from the court.

Proving this can frequently be difficult, but not impossible.

As for whether VA has specific statutes, you'll have to search the VA code and see what it says, because I don't have time.

I don't know of any site-specific info that would help. Sorry.

It's not the best site but there is a person on it who knows about PA, they are a bit different when it comes to GP rights:
//www.freeadvice.com go to family law/grandparents rights.

Also //www.grandsplace.com may have link to state statutes.
