Second Families / This is perfect

Only way this would be better is if the doctor would send the letter directly to your ex versus you sending it.  But this will be fine too.

Did your son's dr mention that bonfires are irritants for some asthmatics as well?

Way to go DR!  :)

You just keep ignoring this woman.  You've got your records together so don't give it another thought.

Kudos to you for not responding thus far.   Bring it here and vent instead!  :)

Second Families / Good news!

I'd be prepared for the girls to have a bit of an attitude though.  Given what their mom has said and actions she's taken, I'd be that she has all sorts of stuff put in their heads about each of you.

Yeah, it will be a glorious day when fathers are given the same consideration in court as mothers!!!!!   THEN we can celebrate!

Second Families / Pick and choose

You can send her all the articles, information, warnings, etc about smoking and its affect on asthmatics.  My guess is if your skids are being treated for asthma that she's already been warned by their doctor.  And if she's not listening to the doctor, do you really think she's going to listen to you or your DH?  Fat chance.

What you can do is educate your skids about the dangers of smoking, clue them in that they have choices too.  Leaving the room; asking their mom not to smoke because it makes them cough, wheeze, etc.

Also, be aware that even if she does take and make the effort not to smoke around them when they are there, if she smokes in the house when they are not there, the smoke gets into carpeting, furniture, clothes, beds, sheets, pillows, air ducts, etc.  So the residuals will make their clothes and even themselves smell as if she had been smoking around them when maybe she hasn't.   Just mention that to keep in mind.

Back to my subject line.  Pick and choose your battles.  This is one of those scenarios that it out of your control and not able to be enforced.  It turns into a he-said, she-said game and is too easy to set up the kids to be caught in the middle - they will not want to 'rat out' their mom.

Second Families / I say go for it

At least y'all will be able to say that you tried everything you could think of to take care of him and make sure that he had a place over his head.

Don't suppose he has talked to you guys about it?  (wishful thinking...)

But I wouldn't hold my breath that pb will sign him over either.....

My SD's mom for instance is supposed to take her this weekend.  She isn't taking her.  We never know if she'll step up and take her or just leave her with us.  So that we don't have to play the waiting game or waste our time/gas we make it known each time that if we do not hear from her by Thursday at 5pm that she is going to take her, then we will not be at the meeting point (we have 1 1/2 hour drive one way to meeting point).  most times we don't hear from her at all, so SD ends up staying with us.   Makes it difficult here, but we deal with it.

Don't play the games and don't let your kids just be left hanging.  They deserve to know what their plans will be.

What a nightmare.  I cannot imagine how your DH must have felt sitting there and day-to-day thinking about what his son has done.  How heartbreaking.  I completely see where you are coming from and have to admit I would have been tapping my toes doing the Snoopy dance with every lashing the judge laid out to your BM (images of RAK's Snoopy dancing across my memory.....)

Hang tight and let the wheels turn.  Do you have to present the impact statement on Monday then?  How are you doing in that regard?

4H - what happened????  From what I read here obviously things are not going very well.     I would absolutely protect your babies from any interference in things going forward.   If she chooses not to believe this happened, then that's her choice, but you have two little ones who need to have closure and for consequences to be laid down.  And they need to be able to trust that they are being taken care of without fear of repercussions.

((((4H))))
