my husband had children prior to our marriage. we presently have 2 together. my husband has had trouble paying his child support for about 2 years now. he was laid off of a good paying job and has since opened his own business which has its ups and downs. he desires to pay the support, however, we have trouble making ends meet ourselves at times. i'm wondering if there exists any assisstance for a father in this situation.
file for a modification in child support based on your current earnings. lots of noncustodial parents are self employed or are commissioned based employees or independent contractors so the courts are used to accomodating for this.
make sure your records are complete and accurate. be very cooperative and available for the court agency who is responsible for following up on your motion.
