SUPPOSE DH stumbled across a job that made us "very wealthy," maybe even millionaires. Would there be a MAX amount of child support we'd be required to pay?
In VA, they take into account, both parents' gross incomes, health care and child care costs, as well as the amount of time the child is with both parents (if the NCP gets more than 90 days a year.)
Of couse, DH doesn't mind paying more child support. What we DO mind, is paying so much child support that we are supporting the other family altogether.
Any thoughts?
No, there is no maximum amount of child support in VA but the percentage changes:
For gross monthly income over $50,000, add the amount of child support for $50,000 to the following percentages of gross income above $50,000:
ONE TWO THREE FOUR FIVE SIX
CHILD CHILDREN CHILDREN CHILDREN CHILDREN CHILDREN
1% 2% 3% 4% 5% 6%

You would however want to meet with a financial advisor who can probably help limit the liability.....and that's all I'm going to say.
I hoping this isn't hypothetical :)
