anyone dealt with newborn custody and visitation? my ex girlfriend is having the baby in a few weeks..i have an attorney already, so does she. i want 50/50 custody but of course she wont agree. what are my chances? how do the courts deal with a newborn? what is the worst i can expect? just trying to get prepared..
Go take parenting classes and infant/child cpr classes.
Get your ppwk in order to establish paternity and file.
i took all the classes, got my paperwork filed and had a hearing set for 2 weeks. ex wrote letter and got a continuance, the new hearing is 3 months after our original date. soooo bummed out right now
If she is going to breastfed, read up on that. Also don't let them say you cannot have visitation for that reason, she can pump and feeze milk ( I did for 6 months with my son and sent milk to dads house so he could feed our son)
Family court sucks and is not always fair, do not get frustrated as it will be at times.
Document everything I mean everything.
Do not raise your voice in court, do not interupt the judge or mom.
Do not bad talk or down talk to the mother
Keep everything stickly about what is best for your child
**These are my opinions, they are not legal advice**
Please dont lose hope or patience. Dont get mad, and please stay focused. Your goal right now is not to give any ammo to the the ex or the courts.
Just keep doing your part and you will get her.
