Hello. My name is Jason Gladys. I am a father of a 9 year old son, Damon. His mother and I were never married. I have a legitimation appearance coming up in court, and after that, I am thinking of filing for custody. My son has been living with me for the last year or so, and I don't feel like his mother is stable enough to provide for him as well as I can.
Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Do you always post your real name and address on the internet?
You can get plenty of help here without personal information like that.
It's your choice, of course...
If you can prove you have had physical custody for a year (daycare, school, dr. office) you should not have any trouble unless mom has some serious dirt on you. Judges like to keep the status quo in the child's life. Show that he has been thriving with you.
