My ex-wife is moving in with a child abusing man. He already had his children removed from his custody. My ex can do what she wants - I just want to save my kids. Where do I get the records to show this in court? Are there public records available anywhere? Help>......Joe H. - Maryland - PORCCHSWNG@aol.com
If the abuse was done in the same county that you live in you can go to the courthouse and obtain a copy of his criminal history. If it occurred in another county and you now which county it occurred then you can go to the courthouse (or contact them via telephone) to get his criminal history. If it's out of your county they will need you to send in a written request along with a check or money order to pay for the copy. You'll probably need to enclose a SASE too.
You can sometimes run a criminal check on a web site run by local law enforcement. Do a google search for criminal searches in your state/county. You may need the full name, aliases, SSN, DOB, etc. If the online search is limited (e.g., doesn't accept aliases) sometimes you can send in a written request. There may be a small fee also.
For MD - try:

Such records would be available from the Court adminstrator or Clerk of Courts in the county where the abuse occurred. You may have to check former addresses to determine what counties the person may have lived in.
