Title: how can we change everything over to our state
Post by: kailey on Oct 04, 2004, 02:22:09 PM
Can anyone tell me how we can change everything over to Maryland from Missouri. We have had custody of the children for 6 months now and are hoping we won't be making anymore trips to St Louis.

Is the EX still in Missouri?  If so, not sure you can do it.

Go to your local county courthouse and find the family court.  They might even have self-help forms to file along with a copy of the order.

Yep, jurisdiction follows the children after 6 months.  BUT I think it's only if both parties have moved from the original state.

Different states have different processes.

In some states, all that is necessary is filiing a certified copy of your order in your new state. In others, you must bring a Motion in the original state to change jurisdiction.
