Title: Bringing baby to court
Post by: wallyworld85 on Feb 29, 2004, 01:41:36 PM
I posted this to soc as well, but would like your imput...

Court in FL has finally been set for April 15. My wife is taking the time off work to travel with me that far distance. The baby has to come to as we have no one to watch him for that extended period (4-5 days). I think it would be a great time for him to get to see his sister for the first time also. My problem is that I have NO ONE to watch the baby while I go to court. I would like my wife there for support (as the EX will have her entire family there). Also, I think there may be a chance that my daughter will be there with her mother and all their family. I would like to bring the baby with me to court. I would NOT bring the baby in the actual court room. My wife would stay in the corridor with him and my aunt (who is too old to watch the baby by herself)

1. Is it appropriate for my wife to bring the baby and stay in the corridor (he'll be about 1 year and 4 months at taht time).

Unless you are asked to by the court, it is never appropriate to bring children or infants to court.

If at all possible, look into drop in service daycare for while you are there.

Personally I wouldn't bring a baby or any child to court unless the judge ordered it.
However if you must bring the baby to court, DO NOT bring the baby into the courtroom, maybe your wife and baby can sit outside.

Do your homework & find a daycare center that is licensed to take walk-ins. We have a very good one in our town, where we have left gr8Dad's kids while we went to court.
