Shared pareting bill for WA - call Senator Hargrove today!"
http://apps.leg.wa.gov/billinfo/summary.aspx?bill=6270&year=2006
Last year a shared parenting bill was introduced in the Washington state senate. It went to Human Services & Corrections and never went anywhere. Modifications were made, yet this bill continues to be the right thing for children and good for families. It doesn't address money and prevents shared if a parent is not fit and it keeps parents out of court and enables equal access to children by BOTH parents. It is again before the WA state senate and in Human Services & Corrections yet its not been scheduled for a hearing.
Join us in calling the Senator who is the Chair of the Comittee and denounce SB6200 as nothing more than a piece of paper

Go, go, go, write, call, act! Let's give kids both parents!
Shared parenting is not always IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE CHILD, when one parent is neglectful, or abusive, mentally or physically. Each case that is not settled out of court needs to be brought before a judge. plain and simple....it's not about the parents it's about the *CHILDREN*
It DOES provide for a rebuttable presumption... for just such cases as you are espousing.
However, unfit/abusive parents are the EXCEPTION, not the norm. We should make the presumption for the NORM and rebut on the exception. Not make every fit parent have to prove they should get to continue to parent their children.
Let's prove bad parents are bad by a reasonable doubt, or at least a preponderance of the evidence before severing the relationship with the children as the "standard" NCP visitation schedule does.
