Title: Parenting Time for a newborn of never married or together parents
Post by: priscila on Dec 28, 2011, 10:23:17 AM
I'm the mother of a newborn in the state of colorado. I'm in desperate need for guidance on parenting time.
I got pregnant by my ex boyfriend and we have never been on a relationship during or since she was conceived.
We are going to mediation on the 4th and I am trying to get some info that I can use to make my case.
Thanks!

What's your case?  What's he asking for?  Is he fit to have joint custody?

I wanna do what's best for her.

Colorado does not use "custody"... basic it is a primary parent (parental responsabities) and  secundary parent (visitations).

They separate main decision making from primary residency. So most likely I will have primary residency and we will share main decision making since it is a VERY 50/50 state.

We are arguiing over visitations. He wants to see her 7 days a week for 2 hours because the statue says it is " best for her short frequent visits"... but it does not define how frequent frequent is...

I have researched a little and frequent means 1 to 2 days a weeks for 2 to 4 hours as long as it works with feeding schedule. That is bc it avois developing anxiety issues, establishing primary caregiver, etc...

So I am looking for more info on that matter...

He does seem to be using her to control me...but that is just a personal part of it and should be left out of what's best for her...
