Title: Discussing Custody Case With Ex?
Post by: gemini3 on Feb 09, 2007, 01:59:59 PM
What should you tell your ex about why you filed for custody?  Should you even discuss it with her?  If you don't, will the judge look at it negatively?  She wants to know, and I'm afraid to tell her anything.  Any advice out there?

I've learned through very hard, painful experience that it's not a good idea to discuss anything with the ex. Let the attorneys handle it or wait until it you file the necessary evidence documents for court.

The more time she knows about it, the more time she'll have to prepare a defense - or undercut your position.

As sad as it is, you're engaged in a battle. If both parents are being fair and honest (it does happen some times, I suppose), it won't hurt her to find out a little bit later.
