Title: Can my 18 year old sue?
Post by: socrmomof3 on Mar 13, 2005, 04:52:00 PM
My daughter has turned 18 and is graduating HS. She starts university this fall. My X owes me over $50K in support. Can my daughter sue her father for arrears??

Thanks, Soc.

No. Only the parent owed support can sue. The child has no standing to sue, because the obligor parent has no obligation to pay the child -- the obligation is to the parent who has the order for support granted in their favor.
