Title: Mental Health and GA laws
Post by: MixedBag on Mar 14, 2005, 08:26:30 AM
Friend of mine is in GA.

She has mental health bills -- dad is supposed to reimburse her for medical and dental bills, but the decree doesn't specify mental health.

1.  Are mental health bills considered "medical" in the eyes of a court?

Thanks!

Depends on the jurisdiction. I'd need to read the exact text of the court order. Courts usually look to what is reasonable, but it really depends on the nature specific mental health services provided.

More than likely, the court would lean towards awarding the reimbursement, but you couldn't win a contempt motion until the court clarifies the order.
