Title: child support
Post by: titorest on Jun 21, 2004, 10:51:27 AM
I am a retired serviceman, after my divorce in Sumter, SC in 2000 I was ordered to pay child support for 3 kids. And I have done so since. Now the younguest, borned in Mar of 1986, just graduated from high school.

I am now remarried with 1 child and  living in Central America working  with
a religious organization. I can't afford to go to the states nor hire a lawyer to try to adjust the child support.

Apparently two of my kids are over 19 and attending college. What advice can you offered me.

Sincerely,
fresto

Usually you would follow the guidelines with regards to the limit of the child support past high school graduation.

Here's SC's DSS web site

http://www.state.sc.us/dss/csed/

Otherwise, what does your divorce order say about child support?  Did it go against the state statute?

Thanks for your advise, however, I have read the SC guidelines and I see nothing about my situation. And on my divorce order there is nothing stating untill what age.
