Title: residential parent for school purposes?
Post by: raywagg on Jul 12, 2005, 09:22:03 PM
in 50/50 shared parenting with joint physical and legal custody
1) Does one parent have to be residential parent for school purposes?
I am in Ohio by the way.
2) How can I find out if you don't know Ohio law?
3) What does it mean to be the residential parent for school purposes with joint custody?
4)Are there pros and cons of letting her be the residential parent for school purposes and what are they?

If so, then this designation is required by OH law, because it's not common in the jurisdictions with which I'm familiar.

Call an OH attorney.

I'm guessing that this means that the designated parent has authority to determine the school in which the child will attend, and/or that this parent's residence will be the one that the school district will use to determine the child's school for enrollment purposes.

Obviously, if the other parent gets to determine the school that the child will attend, then you don't.
