What is the process for requesting court transcripts from a hearing two years ago?  Do I have to go thru my atty or can I request directly from the court?

Call the court reporters office at the courthouse. If you have an attorney, you should let him know what you're doing, unless your goal is to find something with which to sue your attorney about.
