I need help from people who are experts on this subject.
I live in Texas. A friend of mine is in a custody battle with his ex wife over their 11 month old child. When I met his son, he had a knot in his head. From what I know, the mother has no car nor job, she lives with her mother. My friend, the father, has a high paying job, a car, an apartment, and he's fit. The mother and her mother put a restraining order on him so he can't see his son. He use to be able to get his son on weekends and the mother stopped that. She said the lawyer put a temp order on him and that he must pay the lawyer fees. The divorce isn't final yet, my friend has a lawyer already, but I'm not sure its a good lawyer. In the past my friend went to jail twice. One for assumed assault and the other was possession of ice. He did his time years ago. He's 29 and the mother is I think 22. I've seen him with his son. He spends at least $300 on his son every Saturday or Sunday he sees him. But he's not allowed to anymore. They split because the wife wanted her ex back or something like that. He tried to work it out, but she didn't want to. I heard that in Texas, it's hard for a father to get custody of a child, because they always give it to the mother. What can he do to get his son back? His court date is today, but I told him if he doesn't get his son to keep fighting. I really think he should get custody of his son.
Thank you sincerely,
Flora
