I don't remember about the Private Reserve forums! But I do remember it seemed like I joined not long after you started this site. It's been a long time ago and a lot of water has passed under my bridge. Waylon if my memory is correct your son is about the same age as mine or maybe few years younger. How's he doing? I wish I could remember some of the old members names and I wonder what ever happened to them.

I hope yall remember me. It's been a long time since I last checked in. I see some of the same old names are still here, wow! The ones that are still here after all these years are my heroes! Seriously! To put out the effort of helping people all these year is truly inspirational.

First of all I'm the guy that went through a nasty divorce and 8yr custody battle, two children, a son and daughter(oldest), son had cancer at age 6 and brain tumor at age 11, ex moved away, I finally won custody of both. Remarried, have 2stepson's, one stepdaughter, 4 grandkids.

Daughter graduated from state university magnum cum laude in Bio-Chem, graduated Med School, is now a M.D. in residency specializing Anesthesiology. Her residency program is local and she lives aprox. 30 mins from me. She is married and has a stepdaughter that is 13yrs old. It's really funny to listen to her complain to me and my wife(her stepmom) about the trials and tribulations of step-parenting and husband's ex wife.

Son, wow where do I start! Remember that son is a cancer survivor, survived a brain tumor and a stroke that left him a Hemiplegic(sp) or paralyzed one side. After gaining custody of at age 13, I enrolled son in a local small private academy. I told son the day he started school there, that he was going to do something to be apart of the school and he had 2weeks to figure it out. 1.5 weeks into the school he announced that he was going play in the school marching band and that he was going to play the big bass drum one handed and he wasn't going be required to march on the field. He played 4yrs of marching band and concert band. At graduation, he received a full scholarship to a local 2yr community college to play in their marching band. He graduated from the community college and enrolled in a expensive local private university. He wanted to study education and be a teacher. He did not do well grade wise, too much extra activities. I had him enrolled to go to a state university(much cheaper) at the Christmas break. He went to his mom's for the Christmas holidays (9hrs away) and his mom as usual brainwashed him into staying with her and attending college there. As it stands to day, he is 25yrs old(probably the mental capacity/maturity of a 16yr old) he lives with his mom and stepdad in a 28' travel trailer, has no car, no cell phone, no medical insurance and has been talked into obtaining student loans that I firmly believe that ex using for her personal benefit. This is a very brief history. I could tell war stories of all trials and tribulations that have occurred since I have had custody of son.

As always Thanks!

Yes mixedbag it's been a long time, I'm remarried=12yrs, I have 3 step and they are all married and living on their own. I have 2 grand babies, that I just adore! And they live nearby so we get to see them on a regular basis. Yesterday, I got to go see son participate in a band competition at his Community College. It was really good! Anyways, yall take care and I'll attempt to check in regularly.

I don't know if any of yall will remember me. Was known then as Grazer. But I spent many years here. I fought for custody and won. I had two children and one had severe medical problems. Anyways, that has been many years ago. Just want to stop by and give an update. And encourage other non-custodial fathers not to give up.

Won primary physical custody of my daughter and son. Apox. 5 year battle. Daughter was 16yrs old and son was 13yrs old when I won. Daughter is now 24yrs old and in her 2nd year of medical school. Owns her own house and is still single. Has a limited relationship with her mother my ex. Son had a brain tumor, suffered a stroke and is paralyzed right side. Son when came to live with me and his step-mom was enrolled in a small private school locally. He was main schooled (no special ed) and participated in his High School marching band. Played the big bass drum one handed. Graduated high school 15th in his graduating class of 32. Received a scholarship to a local community college to play in their marching band and is presently in his 2nd year and has 2.85 grade point average. He plans on going to a major university and majoring in secondary education and then plans on enrolling in a seminary and wants to be a youth minister. He has a more relationship with his mother/my ex than his sister. My ex/their mother I believe blames my daughter for her loosing custody to me.

Anyways, long story short, main thing I learned thru my troubles, is never ever give up! Listen to what others here tell you. Stay totally involved as much as possible in your children. And always document everything, even the smallest things. Don't put your faith into just one lawyer. If you feel your lawyer is not fighting for you and just going thru the motions, fire him and find another. I went thru 4 or 5 before I found one that would actually stand up fight.

I feel sorry for all the persons that are faced with these awful problems. It is a damn long road. But one worth fighting.

Peace be with you,
Grazer

ps, thanks Waylon and all the others that listened, shared, gave encouragement and advice. REALLY
