Well I have to say I agree with your hubby.  Why spend money so that you don't have to spend money?  This way you know how much it is, no one has to take a day out of work to go sit in court which isn't fun anyway, plus you have to spend some amount of money to even file a motion.  So you'd be 1 day out of pay from work, money to file motion, probably the $100 anyway, and whatever court costs you may incure.  I know it sucks but like you said you have waited 15 years to get this far is 2 wks so bad?

if you don't get it taken out by the state support enforcement agency they can get you for back child support because the other can be seen as a cash gift.  My dh's ex tried this crap with us.  by the way we live in nc and she now lives in pa

I too am a step-mom and thankfully where i am what I make doesn't count towards his kids child support.  I don't think it does anywhere.  YOu need to get on the phone and call a couple of lawyers in your area about this.  they can tell you the law but can't give you legal advice. this means you don't have to pay the consultation fee.  I just don't think that anywhere they can make YOU pay for HIS children.  That is ridiculous!!!

An injustice!!!

Child Support Issues / RE: I'm with you brutha...

$$$   83,148.00  is what we will have paid the ex wife for child support after my step son turns 18 years old.  THat is if it doesn't go up over the years. Yeah it irritates us as well that the child support money doesn't go to the kids.  The first check she got went to a vacation to PA with her boyfriend at the time.  Guess where the kids were??  WITH US!  She asked us to watch them so she could have some time to herself.  She was gone for 7 days.  Must've been a nice vacation.  Yeah we don't like paying child suppor either.

daycare is included in child support in NC i don't know about NJ so isn't health insurance.  What's going on there.  Our court order says they ex wife is responsible for both daycare and health insurance.

Shrink Rap / RE: What do you say to your child...

The sad part is that her BM has already brought your child into it.  So unless you want to let her to think of her father in this manner you have to tell her what is going on.  If she is 13 then she is already confused as it is.  She is starting all the teenage hormones and feelings.  Be patient with her.  SHe will soon figure it all out if what you tell her falls on deaf ears.  But in your own defense you should try to explain a little of what her mother is trying to do to her.  Don't make her mother sound like the bad guy though because then you will truly be the bad guy.

Dear Socrateaser / Parental Rights
Dec 29, 2005, 07:12:17 PM
For many reasons it has been decided that I want to terminate parental rights to my 2 minor children ages 6 and 4.  I live in NC they live in PA but NC holds jurisdiction.

1) If I give up my rights as their parent wouldn't my financial responsibilites be severed as well? (In regards to Child support)

2)  What would the steps be in order for me to get my rights terminated and child support order terminated?

3)  If my child support isn't terminated I don't want to give up my rights, how can I be sure the judge will cancel child support?

It may sound like I am trying to put a price tag on my children's head but that isn't the case.  I just feel that if I no longer have rights then my financial responsibilies should be terminated as well.

Dear Socrateaser / RE: Denial of Visitation

I have two time stamped receipts one when I got there and one when I left unfortunately I don't have the disinterested 3rd party witness (impossible to find someone willing to travel 4 hrs to be heard in court for someone they don't even know.)

1) because of the distance between the court house, New Hanover County, NC, and the meeting point, Chester, VA is it possible the judge would overlook my not having a third party witness?
