Father's Issues / Some Whacko Hates Us
Nov 27, 2006, 08:48:22 AM
Who knows why, she appears to be a crank who believes that parental alienation is a myth and that SPARC is haven for child abusers. She also appears to think SPARC is a "marketing service". (??)

When we declined to engage and argue with her, this is what she sent us:

Feel free to contact her if you like, but don't be surprised if she has a meltdown and attacks you. After all, if you have anything to do with fathers, you MUST be a batterer and a child abuser.

Father's Issues / Ad Format Change - Comments?
Nov 17, 2005, 11:09:57 AM
We've made some changes to the ads displayed on the SPARC site and welcome any comments you may have.

1) All ads with "extreme animation" are being locked out. This includes ads that flash, blink, strobe, or have annoying visual effects.

2) Ads that expand, unroll, or have any element that covers the page are being locked out.

3) Pop-up ads have been locked out for some time, however we've noticed some banner companies will try to sneak them in anyway. These are mostly "survey" -type ads, and we're working to ensure that they never appear on the site.

4) SPARC is testing Google ads, which are mostly text-based. If you prefer text-based ads, please let us know. Google ads generally don't earn any revenue unless they're clicked on, so it's possible that they just may not be a good match for this site. We'll see how it goes.

5) Some ads with what we consider to be "objectionable content" are also being screened out.

6) Ads that play music or voice clips are being locked out.

7) Ads that redirect the "focus" of the page are being screened out, but unfortunately this can only be done on an "ad-by-ad" basis.

Your comments are welcome- please let us know what you think of the changes.

Father's Issues / New Hospitality Exchange
Oct 24, 2005, 09:13:43 AM
Please take a moment and check out the updated Hospitality Exchange ver. 2.0.

[a href=http://www.deltabravo.net/exchange/]Hospitality Exchange ver. 2.0.[/a]

The SPARC - FatherLove Hospitality Exchange ver. 2.0
A collaborative project from SPARC and FatherLove

What Is The Hospitality Exchange?
The Hospitality Exchange is a program where, in exchange for work or service(s), a parent visiting the locale where their child lives is provided a place to stay for a short amount of time. The Hospitality Exchange service allows you to make an offer of hospitality, and/or request one for the area that you'll be traveling to.

Why Is This Needed?
When children live far away from a parent, traveling expenses for the parent to visit their children are often prohibitive. Motel rooms aren't conducive to sharing quality family time! Without the important personal connection of a homelike environment, visiting one's children in an unfamiliar place is often difficult. The opportunity to spend quality time together renews the parent - child bond. Visiting a town without knowing another person is a serious challenge to almost anyone. Too often, this prevents the parent from visiting with their children. The Hospitality Exchange is a potential win for parents, hosts, communities and most importantly, the children of visiting parents.

Exchanging Services
If you are a parent in this situation and would like to be able to stay with your children in a welcoming, homelike environment when you visit, please post your request related to your needs and exchange of your (negotiated) services. (For example, services might include carpentry, cooking, or car repair.)

For those of you who sympathize with the plight of a parent wanting to stay connected to their children, and who would be willing to offer a guest room, hide-away bed, or other accommodation, please post your hospitality offer.

Initiating Contact
It is the responsibility of the individual hosts' and visitors' to initiate contact with each other. SPARC and FatherLove only provide the hospitality offers and requests. We recommend that you work out clear terms of exchange (e.g. a room for a night in exchange for some carpentry work). Please be clear whether you are offering or expecting to receive breakfast, rides, information or other hospitality services.

Father's Issues / Email, 07-24-2005
Jul 24, 2005, 12:21:38 PM
Received in email, 07-24-2005.

Your web site is not the appropriate approach to helping dads fight for visitation and I am offended by what I have read. If you want to help foster the parent – child contact you should avoid words such as -bogus argument, her duty to the child and any other negative connotations. You should emphasize the best interest of the child. I am a breastfeeding mother with no objections to letting a dead beat dad have his day in court but I don't agree with the bogus argument of breastfeeding and did not use it as an excuse. If you really want to foster a good relationship with both parents, tell the guy to keep his dick in his pants and his fists of the woman and for Christ's sake, love and adore the child, not foster the hate relationship.

Regards,

Appalled Mother
[email protected]

Once again, it's all the man's fault, and mothers apparently have no responsibility in the making of a baby. Only "dead beat dads". The depth of this woman's hypocracy is breathtaking.

Feel free to write her and express your opinion. (But don't expect an intelligent response from anyone whose email address is an abbreviation of "go f*ck a monkey".)

Cindy Ross Tries To Link SPARC With Pedophiles

Some of you may not know who Cindy Ross is. She is the Director of nafcj.org, a vitrolic gender-feminist group that attempts to demean and discredit fathers, as well as anyone who tries to assist fathers in their efforts to be involved in their children's lives. (Some time ago we wrote [a href=http://mensnewsdaily.com/archive/newswire/nw02/newswire070902a.htm" target="mnd]Open Letter to Radical Feminist Cindy Ross - Men's News Daily[/a]. Mz Ross never replied, which spoke volumes to us about her credibility.)

According to Mz Ross, "groups masquerading as fathers' rights organizations, ALL cover up for child molesters, pedophiles and other deviant men". In other words, if you help fathers, you're either a pedophile or you're helping pedophiles.

That's right- Mz Ross is so bent on smearing SPARC's name and discrediting the work we do that she has now gone so far as to openly accuse SPARC of supporting pedophiles. We consider this to be proof positive of how completely out of touch with reality she is.

Reproduced below is an email received from Mz Ross this morning, March 16, 2004. In this email Mz Ross references an article that is on the SPARC site that was written by Ralph Underwager and Hollida Wakefield. The article is titled [a href=http://www.deltabravo.net/custody/falseacc1.htm" target='sfa]Suggestions When Falsely Accused[/a].

Apparently Mz Ross feels that just by carrying this article and making the information in it available, SPARC is "covering up for child molestors".

We can't speak for Ralph Underwager and Hollida Wakefield, but we do know that the article they authored has pratical, useful information in it that is of value to all parents, not just fathers. Nonetheless, Mz Ross plays "connect the dots", fabricating conspiracies and accusing SPARC of being involved in supporting or promoting pedophelia because the article is on our site. Needless to say, SPARC does not support any such thing, and it takes a very dull or very vindictive mind to suggest that we do.

To paranoid gender-feminists like Mz Ross, all we can say is that it comes as no real surprise that you're so threatened by fathers that you feel the need to make false allegations like this against SPARC and its users.

Mz Ross' email, received this morning:

Click here: [a href=http://www.deltabravo.net/custody/falseacc1.htm" target='sfa]Suggestions When Falsely Accused[/a]
How very interesting that SPARC would feature recommendations by someone connected to IPT! IPT is Ralph Underwager and Hollida Wakefield's group, i.e., the same pro-pedodphilia CRC affiliates blabbering in Paidika Magazine:

Click here: PAIDIKA INTERVIEW: HOLLIDA WAKEFIELD AND RALPH UNDERWAGER

We've got the proof not only that you lie through your teeth, but that the groups masquerading as fathers' rights organizations, ALL cover up for child molesters, pedophiles and other deviant men, in affiliation with sexologists and sexual perverts.

Dr. Stephen Baskerville Becomes ACFC President

Washington, DC (Jan. 5, 2004) – The American Coalition for Fathers and Children (ACFC) is pleased to announce that Dr. Stephen Baskerville, professor of political science at Howard University, will become President effective January 5, 2004.  Dr. Baskerville is internationally known for groundbreaking commentary in both academic and news publications on the dismal state of family courts in America and the national tragedy of court manufactured fatherless children.

His incisive commentary, ACFC believes, is setting the stage for a new national critique of prevailing government and social policies on divorced fathers and their children.

"It's an honor to have been selected to serve as ACFC President," notes Dr. Baskerville.  "World-wide we are witnessing growing recognition of the importance of fathers in the lives of their children.   We will intensify pressure on government to recognize what most Americans already understand:  that children need both parents who are actively engaged with them, emotionally, physically, intellectually and financially, regardless of the parent's present marital status."

A noted author and commentator, Dr. Baskerville's articles have appeared in such  publications as The Washington Post, Washington Times, Insight Magazine, Human Events, Crisis Magazine and National Review.  Additionally he has appeared on television shows like Fox New's "O'Reilly Factor" and "Hardball" with Chris Matthews.

"Dr. Baskerville's joining ACFC as President represents a significant step forward for both the Fathers and Shared Parenting movements.  Working with our affiliate organizations we will see a rebuttable presumption of 50/50 time become the cornerstone of parenting plans in the future," adds Michael McCormick, Executive Director of the organization.

Also joining the Coalition is John Maguire serving as Director of Communications, Media and Public Relations.  Mr. Maguire's previous experience includes media relations positions at Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami, and Tufts Medical School.  He also directed the science journalism program at Boston University, and has worked as a reporter at several daily newspapers, including the father-friendly Massachusetts News.

Outgoing ACFC President David Roberts will become Chairman of the Board of ACFC, with responsibility for overall guidance and to assure compliance with our 501(c)3 status.  He will continue to serve as the rock of stability for the organization, as he has for the last seven years as President.  "I am extremely pleased with these additions," he said, stating that "ACFC is now more ready than ever to take on the misguided forces of family destruction in our courts and government agencies."  Ileana Basil will continue her outstanding work as ACFC List Serve Manager.

The American Coalition for Fathers and Children is the largest member supported shared parenting organization in the nation.  With offices in California and Washington, DC, and  affiliated organizations active in over twenty states the Coalition provides support services to divorcing families.  The organization produces the "Shared Parenting Tool Kit" a practical resource for those going through divorce.

As an IRS recognized 501(c)3 organization, contributions to ACFC are tax deductible.  For more information about ACFC visit our website at //www.acfc.org or call 800 978-3237.

Father's Issues / Chat Room Registration
Nov 29, 2003, 09:20:35 PM
WHAT: A new Chat Room registration procedure is now in effect; users will need to register with a valid email address in order to create a Chat Room account.

WHY:  The new registration procedure will radically reduce the number of 'trolls' who find their way into the chat room, and it will also reduce 'throwaway' accounts generated from casual users who create an account, look around, and then never come back.

For example, all user accounts were cleared recently, and within 10 days there were close to 1,000 new accounts created. The vast majority of these were 'one-time' accounts. This "free-for-all" registration loads the system needlessly and was becoming an administrative nightmare.

We realize that this will be a minor inconvenience to our regular users, but the enhanced security and stability is worth the few minutes it will take to re-register.

If you have any trouble registering, please contact us at [email protected]

-SPARC Admin

Note: We've found that Hotmail, Yahoo, and MSN may filter out legitimate email from SPARC. If you've registered and haven't received an email from us within an hour or so (usually much sooner than that), try an email address other than Hotmail, Yahoo, or MSN.

Some of you may get error messages that mention "REFERER LOGGING" when you try to post. This is a setting that can usually be traced back to one of several things:

1) Using AOL. The AOL browser does not have Referrer Logging turned on by default. Unfortunately since we don't have a sample AOL browser available to us, we can't tell you where that setting is in the AOL browser. Contact AOL and ask them where this setting is. Please let us know where it is also, so we can make a post on how to do it.

2) Norton Security software. The Norton software has Referrer Logging turned off by default, so you'll need to turn it on. In Norton, open the Advanced Options, Web tab, click Add site, add: //www.deltabravo.net. Then select deltabravo in that column, and on the Privacy tab, set it to accept referrers.

3) Using the Opera browser. Opera users need to go to File -> Preferences -> Security -> Privacy -> and put a check in "Enable referrer logging".

Father's Issues / Board Tip: Topic Ordering
Nov 21, 2003, 07:08:48 PM
Board Tip: Topic Ordering

Here's a tip:

If ou click on the Messages Sorted By" links and pick "Message ID", the posts will stay in the kind of order we're used to seeing, i.e. chronological.

Otherwise, if someone replies to a post, that post will "jump" to the top of the forum....which is not what we're used to seeing (the way it was on the old message boards).

Another tip:

HTML can be used, but instead of angle-brackets: < and >, surround the HTML in square brackets: [ and ].
