Yes, I know some of the public schools suck - - but at least they do give kids an outlet where hopefully abuse can be spotted (yeah, not foolproof by any means - but something is better than nothing).

Chances are that this kid had little to no outside contact - so who knows what other crap was going on?

Would be interesting to know what the story is with the kid's dad...
