Review of "DadsDivorce Custody Calendar software"

If still available, you may be able to get it directly from http://www.DadsDivorce.com.

The DadsDivorce Custody Calendar is a Windows desktop software program that allows basic tracking of custody and child support payments. The software can be configured for use by either the custodial or non-custodial parent.

A series of dialog boxes guide you through the setup process. The calendar display itself could be larger, but is easy to understand. Parenting time is indicated by dates in bold on the calendar display; the current day is also circled in red. There is no provision for advanced scheduling or remote access. A single text box provided can hold notes and other information on a day-by-day basis.

In comparison with the Parenting Time Tracker, the reports generated by the DadsDivorce Calendar are somewhat sparse, although still useful as documentation.

The DadsDivorce Custody Calendar does not provide any advanced customization tools to account for unusual situations or variances in the parenting plan. Notes could be kept in the day-by-day log, but this could prove to be a cumbersome process if there were multiple items to be tracked. Unfortunately, no provisions are made for tracking expenses, and there does not seem to be a way to mark holidays that occur during the year as "belonging" to one parent or the other.

Because it is primarily a desktop-based program, the DadsDivorce Custody Calendar doesn't provide any way to share the calendar with the other parent and there is no way for both parents to collaborate within a single calendar. If both parents wanted to use the system each parent will have purchase and install a copy to use. This is an issue that isn't present in most of the web-based custody tracking services that are available.

Overall, the software is serviceable for a desktop-based application, but the lack of any remote access capability is seriously inconvenient- you must be at the PC it's installed on to work with it at all. If this isn't an issue, we'd suggest Parenting Time Tracker from www.ParentingTime.net.

Based on price (low) as well as content (fair), we rate "DadsDivorce Custody Calendar" as a 3-star resource (on a scale of 1 to 5).
