I talked to her twice, she was extremely calm and non-confronting.
She said both times that he can come see her if he wants to, but leave it totally up to him. She was OK with every other weekend or something similar.

So he is thinking of going to her this weekend from Saturday morning through Sunday evening.

He already told me that if she gives him a hard time about it, he'll tell her instantly that he wants to go back to me.
So we'll see what happens for now.

I'm far too stupid to have any words of wisdom.  Just take care of yourself and your son as the drama roller-coaster that some ex's seem to enjoy is hurtful to all.  Trying to hurt kids with good-byes is despicable at best, but yes I have seen it too.
