DYER, Ind. -- A northwest Indiana mother has been
charged with two counts of murder.

Police said she beat her two sons to death with a
10-pound dumbbell because she thought they'd be better
off in heaven.

Magdalena Lopez was arrested after police officers
answered a 911 call and found her 9-year-old son
Antonio and 2-year-old son Erik dead in separate rooms
of the family home in Dyer, Ind.

A police report said as officers approached the house,
the mother walked out, her clothes and feet spattered
with blood. She told officers she had to kill the
children because she couldn't take care of them
anymore, saying, "They're in a much better place now."

Relatives said Lopez was being treated for bipolar
disorder but had been coping better recently. The
boys' father was at work when he was told of the
deaths.

This is exactly what I go to bed every night fearing the call that my wife has lost her mind again and harmed or killed my children. These stories make it hard to sleep at night even with the dreams I have.

For those of you who know me my case has not gone well do to my STBX's friends.
1-Judge that heard her CDV High and Aggrevated nature (Weapon .44 Magnum hand gun stuck to my head and told "I'm gonna f@#%ing kill you.", while holding our then 3 yr old daughter. Invited her to church and she has been going there ever since.
2-High Ranking Sheriff (who gave an admitted sex offender a character reference letter), also goes to same church.
3-DSS/CPS Supervosor who got involved in this case also goes to same church.
4-Judge over our divorce case was attorney for my brother's x-wife and attorney or judge over a pile of other cases involving relatives both imediate and distant.

So now I am going to attempt to get congressional assistance and sending the same info to several news agencies.

FOR MY CHILDREN NOTHING WILL I NOT DO

A RICH MAN IS ONE WHOM WHEN HIS POCKETS ARE EMPTY HIS CHILDREN FILL HIS ARMS.

You could try a google search on Mothers who kill their children. I bet you will get a full load and scare the hell out of you.

Are you working on the VAWA and getting this gender neutral? Many are writing their stories and sending them to ALL legislators and the media. Until they hear what is going on personally, we might have a better chance. Facts say things clearly. I know of two different people who are putting theses stories together. And I am sure, they will use them wisely.

I oppose the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). Please VOTE NO on VAWA or any other attempt to reauthorize it. Nothing in VAWA 2005 is going to stop the abuses of the innocent, if anything it is going to expand it greatly.

Help restore morals, values, and dignity to the daily lives of American families and our children. Renewal of this law will expand the level of civil rights violations unequaled since the abolition of slavery.


HR 3402, the House draft of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) reauthorization is an unconstitutional travesty. A system of Justice hanging on bare threads of morality and truth cannot withstand the influences of the rage and spite that plague our society today.

Again I ask you to please VOTE NO on VAWA or any other attempt to reauthorize the "Violence Against Women Act" (VAWA), it is not in the best interest of America, our  children, or families.

VAWA has promoted, funded, or mandated:

Mandatory arrests without a warrant, often based on nothing more than hearsay;
A standard under which the accused is guilty until proven innocent and mere allegations now suffice as proof;
Forced citizens from their homes and children with nothing more than the clothes on their back without any pretense of due process;
Endorsed searches of homes without a warrant;
Allowed seizures of property without redress;
Denied defendants the assistance of counsel, the right to confront their accuser and obtain witnesses in their defense;
Punishment and imprisonment that occurs before a trial or without one;
Invoked public censure for crimes men have not committed.
The needed reforms are:

Domestic violence is a state matter. Existing Federal laws should be repealed or allowed to expire.
Domestic violence laws must be gender neutral in all respects and practice.
Domestic violence and abuse laws must not violate the rights to due process and equal protection under the law.
False allegations of domestic violence and suborning perjury must be dealt with as criminal acts.
Domestic violence laws at all levels of government must exist solely in the criminal codes.
Please VOTE NO on VAWA for the good of all Americans. Renewal of this law will expand a level of civil rights violations unequaled since the abolition of slavery. The rework suggested in VAWA 2005 only promises to provide more funding to the current fraud-ridden system riddled with advocacy research studies and government propaganda.

Our domestic violence laws and their operation throughout the country need reviewing under the highest level of scrutiny possible. Qualified scientists must conduct a comprehensive, well-funded study of domestic violence rather than ideologues in order to establish how pervasive this problem is and what methods are most effective in reducing it.

To start, let me say that I don't in any way condone what this woman did and I'm not defending her or making excuses for her, etc.

But...there is nothing in this article that suggests that the parents were separated, divorced or invovled in a custody dispute.  It just says the Father was at work when he was told aobut the deaths.

I don't think it's any big secret that there have been women and are women who have killed their children.  One could make the argument that thousands of women do this every day when they abort their unborn child.

This isn't something that, in my opinion, reflects the governments bias when it comes to VAWA.

Just my opinion...which we all know what they are like! LOL

I was not replying on the article, I replied to this persons personal experience.

The current VAWA does not protect victims. It is a scam, setting up programs for their own purposes, ignoring the very victims that need protection the most.
