hello everyone,

have a question, last week my daughters step-dad attacked me in.
front of my daughter. cops were called and report was filed.

apperently this is not the first time he has done this. he has a
battery charge on his ex-wife and an injunction against him.

     what should I do?

How old is your daughter? Exactly what did he do? What was going on at the moment, like were you doing visitation exchange? Where was her mother? Were there any other witnesses? Did you press charges?

This may be cause for a change of custody. You should consult a Board Certified Family Law & Custody Specialist & see what he/she thinks of your case. Consider getting your daughter into therapy, if she isn't already. Let the counselor explore how she feels. Is she afraid of the guy. Do not discuss the issue with her. Let the pro's do it.

Doccument, doccument, document. Take a neutral witness with you every time there is contact. Also video tape any & all contact.

You never get a second chance to make a first impression!

have you pressed assault charges yet?

What was the end result of the police report?

Were you treated for any injuries?

Why did he attack you?

Does your ex have custody?

If he has an established violence problem, then that is an issue for your child who is living in the environment with him all the time.

Of course, we need more information!

contact the DA and see what options are available to you. But definitely press charges - the goal, really, should be that he isn't even around when you are exchanging the child with your ex. Of course if you are concerned about the home environmenta nd want to seek a change in custody, you have to get a lawyer for that.
