When it comes to the kids, aren't I entitled to know everything related to them. My son has ear surgery coming up on the 17th, a specialist appointment on the 13th and a hearing test scheduled for the 9th. I didn't find out about it until the lady at the doctors office called to me. She was calling to confirm my information because my ex listed me as the main payee of the medical bills. My kids are covered by medicaid because I am currently unemployed. Shouldn't he be the main payee becasue he has the kids the majority of the time. Also,  shouldn't I have the right to know about upcoming surgeries for my kids? Also, he scheduled the appointments during my two weeks. Shouldn't I be the one scheduling the appointments that will occur during my time with the kids? What information is he supposed to share with me?

First they are BOTH of your kids, not "my kids".
Yes, he should be telling you but depending on what your court order reads, he may not be breaking it.

Do you have joint legal or does he have sole. If he has sole or medical decisions then no, he does not HAVE to (but would be nice).

Usually dr offices and hospitals use the insured parent address (from the medical insurance). Then your court order will determine who pays for what. You can tell the dr office that you carry insurance but he is the custodial parent and to use his address. (We chose not to do this so we get info and straighten out issues before it goes to the credit bureau. - just like the dr office called you, at least you know now).

No, it doesn't normally work that way. It depends on what the parenting plan or court order says.

Generally, yes, but again it depends on the custody arrangements. If he has sole physical and decision-making authority then he may not be required to tell you. (He should no matter what, but that's another story.)

You should, but this also depends on what the parenting plan or court order says.

There's no way for us to know this because we don't know what your parenting plan says in this regard.

It all depends on the Court Order and what it says. My DH is NCP and has to carry insurance and pay 100% of medical and dental co-pays and uncovered expenses. His Order also says that both parents are to inform each other prior to any appointments.

If you put up the wording from your Order, people here may be able to help you
