The last time I posted, I was asking for advise and help.  It has been some time since then, but I wanted to give a little update.

BM agreed to letting BF have the girls (6 & 9) for the entire school year.  She will have them every other weekend during that time, and the rolls will be reversed in the summer.

This is really great news for us.  The main problem with her having the children is the lack of focus on school.  That may sound minor at this young age, but the third grader was reading on a 1st grade level when she moved in with us.  She has now just started reading at a beginner 3rd grade level.

Surprisingly after all the trouble we have had with BM, she is really cooperating with us now.  Even before the papers got finalized (which they now are).  In the past we had to deal with the abusive phone calls, the refusal of visitation, and even the brain washing of the kids.

The kids have been living with us since Thanksgiving.  They have adjusted well and the oldest has even realized how nice it is to have her own bed and stay in the same house from month to month.  The stability is such a relief to her, you can see it.

Anyway, I wanted to update everyone that tried to help when we were going through it all.  Thanks so much!

I'm sorry, I'm still kinda new and I haven't been following your posts but I am soooo happy for you!! That must be such an awsome feeling to know that your stepkids are finally going to get the care they need and deserve. It must be nice to know that BM won't be such a monster anymore, too.

Mixed Bag

The papers just got signed last week.  You know the whole time were were wishing and hoping, but you never know.  We just knew something would go wrong right at the end and spoil it all.  

Each step was such a relief, but then the next step is there, and it could always go wrong.    I can't believe it has finally happened.

Not to mention, it has taken some getting used to going from a 1 child home to 3.  All girls and all in elementary school.  Whew!
