i have spent all day calling lawyers. i was told i have to get a lawyer in wv where my child lives to file for vistations.problem is getting one to call you  back. i have been reading as much as i can on this site. but still i am wondering how the process of filing for visitations goes? what happens? will i have to make lots of trips to wv for court? please someone who has been through this give me some insight. guess its all scary to me.

If you are asking for standard visitation,, it will more than likely be granted,, UNLESS, you have established relationship with the child. Then you will probably be ordered supervised, or short vists at her location for a while,, eventually graduating up to standard.

As far as the court appearances,, SOME courts will allow a telephone appearance when interstate is involved.

Relax :)

Heres a little reading material to calm you.

One of the first things you'll hear around here is "Document, document, document!". Having good records is *crucial*. Get yourself either the Parenting Time Tracker (PTT) at: http://www.deltabravo.net/custody/tracker.htm or the OPTIMAL Custody Tracking service at: http://www.parentingtime.net. The PTT is good, but the OPTIMAL service is definitely better.
