Special Visitation Help !!

I am a firefighter in the Dallas area. I have been divorced for a little over 2 years. I have NON-custodial joint custody of 2 kids. I currently have the standard "weekend (1st, 3rd and 5th)" visitation schedule. Due to my fire department schedule, I work 24 on and 48 off. For the last 2 years I have had a friend or relative able to watch the kids for me when I was on shift if it fell on a visitation day.
I no longer have this option, as I do not have anyone to watch them while I am on duty anymore. I have brought this to my ex's attention and her non-willingness to work with me has put me in a bind. Her reaction is.."well, i guess your going to have to find another job that will let you be off on weekends..."
What can I do? I refuse to have to pay someone to "babysit" while I have to work to pay child support, as well as sacrifice time spent with my children ...Can I get some type of special visitation due to my public service job? Anything any advice would be sooo greatly appreciated.
